MenAlive, Orange County Gay Men's Chorus, will unravel the music of the Material Girl in a delightfully madcap salute to Madonna. The renowned choral group will take the stage at the Irvine Barclay Theater for three performances of Strike a Pose, a lovingly over-the-top show guaranteed to dazzle the Queen of Pop herself.
The show will include choral versions of her greatest hits such as Vogue, Like A Prayer, Papa Don't Preach and Beautiful Stranger, along with the show-stopping MenAlive dancers, decked out in baubles, bangles, beads, boas, bras, bustiers and the other outrageous accoutrements that have made the country crazy about Madonna for the past three decades.
Strike a Pose will be performed at 8 pm tonight, March 22 and at 3 pm and 8 pm Saturday, March 23. Tickets range from $35 to $49.50 and can be purchased at ocgmc.org.
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit, MenAlive's mission is to "Through music, men's voices unite as a vehicle to entertain, educate, bring healing, joy, community and build bridges to the public at large." Since its founding in 2001, the group has grown from about 30 members to be one of Orange County's largest and most respected choruses, and is an integral part of the southern California arts scene. MenAlive recently performed a highly successful A Winter Spectacular with the legendary Liza Minnelli at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, and will feature Broadway superstar Ben Vereen in Academy Affair, a fundraising concert at the Center Club in Costa Mesa in late February.
