Norwegian Dance-Rockers DATAROCK Release FEATHERS AND WAX Ahead of First New Album in Nine Years, out 3/9 Image

After the release of the cinematic visuals for "Laugh in the Face of Darkness," Norway's tracksuit-sporting synth rockers present another sample from the upcoming album -- "Feathers & Wax" sees the band picking and choosing influences from across the board: Plato's myth of Icarus, Fugazi's classic hardcore riffs, DEVO's guitars, Paul Simon's "Graceland" bass and vocal harmonies, as well as current indie and contemporary urban sounds, sealed with the signature Datarock upbeat tempo and playful electronics.

The single artwork, along with the album cover and video aesthetics, was created by DOLK, a well-known visual artist from Datarock's hometown of Bergen, Norway. The two teamed up in order to elevate the polished visuals to a true fine art level; the scratched "Low Key" Lamborghini featured in the "Laugh" video was shot at the ARoS Museum in Denmark. Face the Brutality hits the ground March 9 - stay tuned.

DATAROCK's playful brand of indie-dance crossover music has been featured everywhere from Workaholics to Vampire Diaries, to more than ten major EA games to various ad campaigns including Apple and Google -- take one listen to the opening bassline of "Fa Fa Fa" and you'll instantly recognize it. American fans have been able to catch sight of the signature red tracksuits at festivals such as Coachella and Lollapalooza and late night TV programs like Jimmy Kimmel. Face the Brutality will be the synth-rockers' first LP since 2009 and first output since their musical, The Musical, in 2015. Years in the making, Face the Brutality is an album for the bored and bitter survivors of 2017, an upbeat escape with substance.
