On the cusp of releasing his third studio LP White Noise, NOAH GUNDERSEN is debuting the official music video for "The Sound" through Earmilk. The first single off White Noise, "The Sound" is available as an immediate download when you pre-order the album HERE. In the past, Gundersen has opted to be offscreen in many his music videos, but in the spirit of White Noise, "The Sound" finds Gundersen at the center of the multi-layered video that captures the tension and anthemic dynamic of the track itself.
Says video director Christopher Harrell to Earmilk: "I always aspire to create work that evokes a specific feeling. Working on this project with Noah was a true collaboration and exercise in creating a unique mood. From creating colorful glitchy static to play on analog televisions to figuring out what type of opaque liquid to use to fill up a tub (milk with strawberry syrup), the imagery we wanted to create came with some specific challenges. In the end, we made a surreal piece that captures the energy and mood of 'The Sound'."
NOAH GUNDERSON "THE SOUND"
The conception of
White Noise started long before Gundersen stepped into his homemade studio, nestled inside a 1600 square foot loft on the marina in Seattle, Washington. "At the beginning of 2016, I walked on stage and was met with a feeling of overwhelming emptiness," Gundersen revealed. "I imagined a career playing music I didn't believe in and was terrified." After his set, a fellow songwriter expressed a quote to Gundersen from famed choreographer, Martha Graham: "No artist is ever pleased... There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction; a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others." From there, something awoke in Gundersen that can now be best described as the 13 tracks that embody White Noise.
In addition to Gundersen's upcoming
North American tour this fall, this
September Gundersen will be headed to the UK and Europe to play solo, stopping by London and
Berlin in support of White Noise. Tickets go on sale Monday.
