Acclaimed British musician Nick Mulvey's highly anticipated new album, Wake Up Now, is set for release September 8 via Harvest Records. Wake up Now is available for pre-order now at http://bit.ly/2rwlWFF.
In conjunction with the announcement, a second track from the record, "Myela," debuts today. The song was written with new band member Federico Bruno and came to life during the final recording sessions with producer Dan Carey at his S
outh London studio. "Myela" was inspired by the refugee crisis as a real desire to help. Listen/share the song here: http://bit.ly/2tFM1CC.
"Having been deeply touched by the crisis I wanted to write about it, and did so in partnership with Federico. We felt unworthy to write poetry about this subject. Exploring first-hand accounts of refugee journeys, we wanted to give them voice. To share with people who listen to my music, to make them aware the situation continues," Mulvey says.
With the track's release Mulvey is supporting Help Refugees and will perform as part of the "Give A Home For Human Rights" campaign on
September 20 in association withAmnesty International. Help R
efugees is a grassroots humanitarian aid organization that supports the individuals who are not being catered for by large aid organizations, NGOs or governments.
Wake Up Now is the first new music from Mulvey since his 2014 Mercury Prize-nominated debut, First Mind. First Mind received widespread critical praise-Rolling Stone hailed it as "One of this year's finest new releases...Sophisticated and intricate stuff; Mulvey sounds like a major player in the making, and as introductions go, this is fine indeed," while The Guardian furthered, "His album mixes traditional and experimental, acoustic and electronic to pull unexpected rabbits out of hats," and The Line of Best Fit added it's "a total package of pop hooks, instrumental genius and gorgeous rhythms."
