New Idea Society Continue Grand Reveal With WAVE GOODBYE Image

After waiting with bated breath, super-collaboration group New Idea Society has released a second single via Sargent House. Comprised of decades-long friends Mike Law (Wild Arrows, EUCLID) and Stephen Brodsky (Mutoid Man, Cave In) and New Idea Society drummer Alan Cage (Quicksand) and guest bass collaborator Brian Cook, the new offering explores the heavy shoegaze and grunge influences that brought the group together.

Listen to and share "Wave Goodbye" now via YouTube.

The b-side to previously released "Now Is Here," "Wave Goodbye" serves as a continuation of the sonic journey that Law and Brodsky embarked on decades ago. Year and miles away from their humble beginnings experimenting with 4-track machines in a college dorm, the duo have since become unshakeable forces in heavy music in their own rights while remaining steadfast collaborators.

Since their fateful meeting in the late-90s, Law and Brodsky have been relentless creators, yielding several releases including You Are Awake Or Asleep (2005), The World Is Bright And Lonely (2007) and Somehow Disappearing (2011). Outside of their successes in the studio, New Idea Society also pursued worldwide touring, with some dates featuring Old Man Gloom drummer Santos Montaño.

New Idea Society's pair of 2019 singles shatters an 8-year hiatus and shows the reincarnated outfit flexing a sound heavier than ever before. Nodding to the metallic backbone of Mutoid Man, Cave In, and Wild Arrows, the revamped New Idea Society sound is as much a product of influence as experimentation. The recording of "Now Is Here" / "Wave Goodbye" was masterfully captured in the studio by Jeremy Scott at The Civil Defense, all the while keeping the subtle melodic complexities of their earlier home recordings.
