Indie country recording artist, Patrick Darrah, will make his country music debut with his first CD release titled NORTHERN TRUTH.* The 10-song compilation (produced by Drew Smith and Kevin "Swine" Grantt and highlighting select original tunes) comes from Darrah's newly-formed label, Double Darrah Entertainment, and will be available via all digital retail outlets (Amazon/iTunes/Spotify/Rhapsody) on February 23, 2018.
Complementing his contemporary, edgy flair with legendary traditional sound, the New Englander, who hails from upstate New York, recruited some country music's "who's who" in the recording industry to round out the freshman project. Featuring performances by Music Row A-listers [James Mitchell on guitar (Cole Swindell/ Alison Krauss/LoCash/Colt Ford), Robby Turner on pedal steel (Chris Stapleton/ Waylon Jennings/Loretta Lynn/The Highway Men) and background vocals sung by Monty Allen (Alan Jackson/Strayhorns)], NORTHERN TRUTH is a bold and honest testament of the recording artist's true-to-life story in the "here and now."
"I was at the tail end of a break-up when I was looking for songs and writing for the project. So, the tracks on NORTHERN TRUTH have a lot of 'truth' to them. Some of the songs that Brad Wolf pitched to me were spot-on and 'hit-home' as to what I was feeling emotionally at the time; I felt a connection. This project is transparent to my 'place' at the very time."
The NORTHERN TRUTH tracks highlight traditional instrumentation livened by contemporary lyrics, creative musical arrangements (with raw crunch guitar licks
and fat bottom bass instrumentation) and modern production lending elements of
zeal and vigor from start to finish.
The debut single release from the album, "I Never Got Over You" (written by Brad Wolf and Don
Goodman and ON RADIO NOW), spotlights the agony of heartbreak and the battle to let go and move on. Darrah sets the conflicted tone with a contrast between vulnerability and intensity-pairing honest, exposed lyrics with a driven, upbeat tempo. He paints the picture of love and loss, regret and fond recollection, and settling with an uncomfortable newfound freedom. Alternatively, "Smooth As Whiskey" (Patrick Darrah) spotlights an intoxicating attraction that leads to a playful "do you wanna" plea to give romance a shot, while the tune, "Colorado" (Brad Wolf/Don Goodman/Rick Morgan), takes a hard left turn moving a hard-working family man to travel down a lonely road as an outlaw in desperate times.
As an early introduction to the new CD project, Darrah released "I Never Got Over You" to country radio in late November 2017 (PlayMpe 11/28/17); the single is on track to enter the MusicRow Country Breakout Chart. The CD, NORTHERN TRUTH, will be available digitally on February 23, 2018. Music enthusiasts can PRE-ORDER beginning January 26, 2018; pre-sale purchasers will receive three instant gratification tracks ("I Never Got Over You," "Who You Used To Be" and "After You"). Digital retail distribution services will be provided by Ed Gertler, Digital Delivery Services.
ABOUT PATRICK DARRAH Long, lean and a little rough around the edges, Patrick Darrah's country music debut is alternatively sentimental and telling. Hailing from a small town in Bloomingdale, NY, Darrah earned his living as a skilled auto body artist. He was raised on the country music legends (such as Charlie Daniels, Marshall Tucker, George Straight and Gary Allen) that echoed between the cement walls of the family body shop. Combining the musical styles that he gravitates toward, Patrick's vocal delivery, stage performance and original compositions are an infusion of Eric Church, Jamey Johnson,
Chris Stapleton and Granger Smith. In early 2017, Darrah put down the tools and picked up his guitar to pursue his dream in Nashville. He's since launched his own independent entertainment company (Double Darrah Entertainment) and has become a downtown Broadway "must-see" entertainer for country music fans and Music City visitors-tearing up the stages at some of Nashville's most notable honky-tonks and nightclubs (Honky Tonk Central/Rippy's Bar & Grill/The Stage/Tin Roof/Tootsie's Orchid Lounge).
