Neue Meister Returns With A Night Of Classical And Electronic Music Fusion  Image

The ninth edition of the Neue Meister concert series presents a fusion of classical music and electronics, performed by the masters of the genre. The event is hosted by DRIVE: Volkswagen Group Forum, a remarkably versatile space at the centre of the city's Berlin-Mitte district.

Hailed as one of the most versatile and captivating artists of our time, Yura Lee, has performed alongside numerous major orchestras, including New York Philharmonic and Chicago Symphony and has multiple international awards to her name. Excelling as both soloist and chamber musician, Lee succeeds in enthralling her audiences with her performances across baroque, classical and new music.

British composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist John Metcalfe has a renowned reputation within the neo-classical chamber pop scene, having worked extensively within TV, radio, and a great number of artists across multiple genres. Metcalfe's work is characterised by an electrifying mix of trip-hop and violin etudes, combined with the immediacy of pop music production. Metcalfe's latest album 'Abscence' harnesses these eclectic elements to stunning effect, whilst taking the listener on a highly personal journey through the processes of memory, bereavement, and healing.

Multi-award winning contemporary composer, producer pianist, Clemens Christian Poetzsch, has written for a diverse range of creative mediums, including music for theatre and dance. His work utilities a broad palette of sonorities, from classical to improvisatory, electronic elements to contrabass drones.

Created especially for Neue Meister IX, Max Doehlemann's musical narrative; "Signals from Shushan" for violin and string orchestra is Inspired by a traditional jewish cantillation and is dedicated to violinist Liv Migdal. The work weaves intricate rhythmic patterns with jubilant, dance-like elements, resulting in an intoxicating listening experience.

Hailed as a 'name to watch' by Tchaikovsky concerto, and celebrated as a 'pop' phenomenon in his second-homeland, Indonesia, Berlin-born violinist, Iskandar Widjaja performances embrace musics across a plethora of genres. For Neue Meister he will perform pieces from his highly personal album "Mercy", including interpretations of Arvo Pärt, Max Richter and J. S. Bach.
