The Washington Nationals have announced that legendary singer Neil Diamond will debut his new single 'Freedom Song (They'll Never Take Us Down)' live on the fourth of July at Nationals Park. This will be the first time Diamond has performed the song live, inspired by the attacks in Boston this past April and a visit to wounded Veterans at Walter Reed Military Medical Center.

Diamond explained his mindset with regards to the song 'I, like so many other Americans, felt helpless during the recent attacks in Boston and wanted so much to reach out and not only help those people affected in a direct way but to lift their spirits as well and let them know they were not alone; that the entire American community felt a close kinship with them... I was inspired to devote myself to the creation of a new song which expressed my love for this country and its two greatest assets: the spirit of its people and the freedoms it has afforded us all by law.'

Support for the military has always been of high importance for the Washington Nationals. They partner with different military charities throughout the season to highlight the importance of the military. The performance will take place during the team's In-Game Military Salute which is a team tradition that occurs every game.

'Freedom Song (They'll Never Take Us Down)' will be released on Tuesday July 2nd and all proceeds will benefit the One Fund Boston charity, as well as the Wounded Warrior Project.
