Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, along with Rateliff's foundation, The Marigold Project, are set for two days of events in Denver to support the prevention of gun violence in partnership with local and national nonprofit organizations. The nonpartisan events will emphasize voter registration and engagement, encouraging Colorado citizens to find peaceful solutions to the issue of gun violence.

On Saturday, October 13, The Marigold Project is hosting a selection of workshops, panels and training sessions at INDUSTRY. On Sunday,October 14, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats host a rally and concert at Levitt Pavilionwith special guests Fantastic Negrito, Los Mocochetes and the Denver Children's Choir joining the band. All proceeds will benefit nonprofit organizations dedicated to gun violence prevention. Tickets for the event are available here: the-marigold-project.org/notonemore

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats and The Marigold Project are teaming with organizations and activists who have dedicated their lives to gun violence prevention and are led by students advocating for change. The goal for the events is to unite communities in developing solutions to the issue of gun violence, particularly in cities/towns, schools, workplaces and in homes. Standing with student activists against the culture of fear, they ask that Colorado's elected officials keep everyone safe. Gun violence affects all.

"These students are what courage looks like," explains Rateliff. "We are proud to support them in their efforts to ensure that our schools and neighborhoods are free from gun violence. We are partnering with incredible local and national nonprofit partners who have dedicated their lives to eradicating gun violence through civic engagement. We believe that we can find common ground on this issue and keep our children safe. When we see the youth of the world wanting to make change happen, us as their elders need to respond in the correct way and listen. So it is our responsibly to try to learn and to try to create community amongst each other. We need to understand each other better as individuals and as people and other cultures, and continue to make a global community that we can build upon and to continue to have something for our children and our children's children."

Fantastic Negrito:

Fantastic Negrito is a man's truth told in the form of black roots music. Each song is a real story about a musician from Oakland who experienced the highs of a million dollar record deal, the lows of a near fatal car accident that left him in a coma, and is now in the midst of a rebirth that took him from the streets of Oakland to the Grammy stage. On the way he won the NPR Tiny Desk Contest and toured the world with artists like Chris Cornell, Temple of the Dog and Sturgill Simpson.

June 15 marked the release of Fantastic Negrito's critically acclaimed new release Please Don't Be Dead, with The New York Times' Jon Pareles hailing it as "a cranked-up, slow-grinding attack on addiction and consumerism." "[Fantastic Negrito] won a GRAMMY® for the 'Best Contemporary Blues Album' for 2016's The Last Days of Oakland," declared NPR's Bob Boilen. "[Please Don't Be Dead], with its intense fervor, should make that two years in a row." "Negrito puts himself in the middle of the fray with Please Don't Be Dead," wrote the Associated Press, "and offers his songs for the soundtrack of the lives of those who won't give up."

When you listen to Negrito, you're invited to hear the story of life after destruction. For anyone who ever felt like it was over yet hoped it wasn't, this is your music.

Los Mocochetes:

Los Mocochetes are a Xican@ Funk band from Denver, CO. This colorful cast of characters fuses thoughtfully brazen, socio/politically charged song lyrics, groovilicious melodies and high-energy stage antics to create an immersive experience unlike anything you've ever seen before. Much like a machete, which can be used either as a tool to build or a weapon to kill, they have chosen to use their music to inspire and encourage positive social change. Every show is different, but it's always a dance party with a purpose. Los Mocochetes received the Westword Music Showcase award for Best Latin Band of 2017 and Best Funk Band of 2018.

The Mocochetes are here to ignite a fire in every audience member to enjoy the moment and then go out and make a difference.

Denver Children's Choir:

The Denver Children's Choir started in 1995 as the Rocky Mountain Children's Choir and over the past 23 years has shared the "Harmony of Music" with close to 7000 children ranging from ages 6-18. In 1997 to better reflect our mission "to inspire and unite children from diverse backgrounds by fostering harmony in music and in life" and to recommit to the children of Denver, the choir changed its name to the Denver Children's Choir.

The Marigold Project is Nathaniel Rateliff's foundation established to support
community and nonprofit organizations working on economic and social justice.
