Nashville-Style Music Series to Debut at Putnam's in Fort Greene Image

Two Brooklyn songwriters have set out to prove that Nashville is not the only town in America where sophisticated listeners will flock to hear great songwriters in the stripped-down, in-the-round format made famous by clubs like The Bluebird Cafe.

Starting Thursday, April 11, and continuing every second Thursday of the month, performing songwriters Devlin Miles of Fort Greene and Carolann Solebello of Flatbush will curate and host a Nashville-style "guitar pull" in the unique and sonically resonant event space located below popular Fort Greene drinking and dining spot Putnam's Pub & Cooker. Dubbed "Live From The Vault: Songwriter Sessions," the monthly music series will feature some of the best songwriters in the New York City area and beyond in an environment that affords listeners a glimpse into the minds of creators and allows for deep and contemplative listening.

"We wanted to celebrate the art of the song by presenting exceptional songwriters - both local and touring, hitmakers and up-and-comers - in an up-close-and-personal way in a truly unique listening environment," said Miles. "Each month will feature three songwriters performing in-the-round style in the middle of a super-resonant listening room with no stage. You can't get more up-close-and-personal than that! Think Nashville with a splash of New York City attitude."

Known as The Vault, the underground space below Putnam's is a renovated multi-furnace bunker once used to store coal in days of yore. The supercool, speakeasy-like vibe features cozy booths, smooth lighting, a full sound system, full bar, and room for listeners to roam or snuggle up as desired. The unusually-shaped, multi-level space and natural resonance provide a truly unique experience for listeners who enjoy good songwriting and intimate, unvarnished performance.

The first edition of Live From The Vault: Songwriter Sessions will feature co-curators and hosts Devlin Miles and Carolann Solebello, plus Chris Hewat of the band Solar Hearts. The event will take place Thursday, April 11 at 7:30PM (doors open at 7PM) in the space below Putnam's Pub & Cooker at 419 Myrtle Avenue in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Tickets are $20 for the 90-minute, no-intermission show. Advance tickets (recommended due to space limitations) may be purchased at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/live-from-the-vault-within-putnams-songwriter-sessions-tickets-59073091206?aff=ebdssbdestsearch

On May 9, host Devlin Miles will play in-the-round with NYC writer Nicholas Zork and nationally-known Jill Sobule. The June 13 edition will feature host Carolann Solebello, North Carolina writer Karyn Oliver, and NYC native Paul Sachs.

Listeners should note that the space is accessible only via an interior staircase. Street parking is available, and public transit options include the G train to Clinton/Washington, the B69 bus to Vanderbilt/Myrtle, and the B54 bus to Myrtle/Clinton.
