One of the biggest-selling female artists around the world, Nana Mouskouri, returns to the stage with her "Happy Birthday Tour", starting on her birthday in October 2013 in Athens, and making a stop at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on January 22, 2014 at 7:30pm.
During the "Happy Birthday Tour," Ms. Mouskouri will celebrate her birthday by honouring the composers and writers who inspired her singing throughout the years.
"After celebrating 50 years of my "White Rose of Athens" two years ago," said Ms. Mouskouri, "I realized that:
Last year, 2012, it was 50 years since I worked with Quincy Jones and recorded my first album in New York.
This year, 2013, it is 50 years since "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" with Michel Legrand and 50 years since the Eurovision Song Festival in London with the BBC.
Next year, 2014, it will be 50 years since I worked with Harry Belafonte and had my first stage experience in the USA and Canada.
And since I had the chance to come that far in my life, I thought it would be worth celebrating, singing songs from my favorite composers and writers, for all my dear friends, the audience. Happy Birthday to all who have given me the answer that love still exists. And as long as there is music for me and my friends, there is love!"
She will be accompanied by her four French musicians and by her daughter Lénou, who has her own singing career in France since 2001."My mother used to say: ' where you are I was and where I am you will be one day.' So here I am looking at life with the eyes of a mother. I am very proud and happy to share the stage now with my daughter Lénou. It is like a dream come true."
