One of the world's most well-known violinists, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg and her duo partner pianist Anne-Marie McDermott, offer their only New York City recital of the season at Symphony Space on April 22. Known for their musical risk-taking, virtuosity, powerful sound and expressionistic and passionate playing, the world-renowned duo comes home to the Upper West Side to offer a unique program of some of their favorite works. The program includes Bach's Sonata in E Major, Debussy's Sonata for the Violin and Piano in G Minor, and Franck's Sonata for the Violin and Piano in A Major.

Director of the New Century Chamber Orchestra, violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg's professional career began in 1981 when she won the Walter W. Naumburg International Violin Competition. A long-time collaborator with Salerno-Sonnenberg, Anne-Marie McDermott has performed with many leading orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Seattle Symphony and Hong Kong Philharmonic. Since opening in 1978 with a 12-hour marathon concert called Wall to Wall Bach, Symphony Space has earned its place as an innovative, multi-disciplinary cultural center in the heart of New York City's acclaimed Upper West Side neighborhood. In its two performance spaces, diverse programs bring great actors, musicians, writers, and dancers together with the public in a unique melding of world-class artistry in an informal and intimate setting.
