Nadine Khouri is set to release the 4-track digital single I Ran Thru The Dark (To The Beat Of My Heart) via One Flash Records and headline a sold-out at London's St. Pancras Old Church this Friday March 31st. Today she shares her exquisite cover of Bruce Springsteen's "I'm On Fire" (now available to share via Soundcloud), one of three exclusive B-sides featured on the collection. The package also includes the title track, a live version of "Broken Star", and "Away From The Noise", which premiered earlier this month via Brooklyn Vegan.
Recorded in Brooklyn with musician and friend
J. Allen and mixed by Dan Cox (Lianne Las Havas, Laura Marling) Khouri's sublime rendition of the Springsteen classic is a gender-bending take on the original.
"I recorded this track with
J. Allen in his living room in Brooklyn," Khouri explains. "J contributed keys, harmonium, and vocals to the album we recorded with John (Parish). J's voice is naturally sweet and high while mine's pretty low... We thought it would be fun to do some classic songs together, reversing the gender of the singer - so I might sing one by Bruce & he'd sing a track by Bjork or Carole King... We picked songs we liked that were fun to play. This was the first track we attempted in the series."

I Ran Thru The Dark (To
The Beat Of My Heart) is the follow-up to the British-Lebanese musician's enigmatic debut LP The Salted Air (out now), a haunting and atmospheric meditation on loss and transformation produced by John Parish (PJ Harvey, Giant Sand).
"I met John after a show of his in London several years ago; I'd always been a big fan of his work. After hearing my EP, he invited me to sing on a track of his called 'Baby's Coming.' When it came to making my album eventually, I sent him my new songs and asked if he'd be interested in producing," explains Khouri of their collaboration.
Released in February 2017, the album cemented Khouri's one-to-watch status. It and was hailed byMOJO as "A thing of dark possessed beauty" in their four-star album review, celebrated for it's "Smoke damaged torch songs" by Q (Feb 2017 Critics Choice) and was selected as one of Rough Trade's Albums of the Month (Jan 2017). In addition to Parish, The Salted Air features guest contributions from Irish singer-songwriter Adrian Crowley, violinist Emma Smith (James Yorkston, Hot Chip) alongside a core band assembled by Khouri. It was recorded live by Parish & Ali Chant in the darkly-lit, vaulted basement at Toybox Studio in Bristol. Acclaimed music photographer Steve Gullick (Nirvana, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy) shot Khouri's press photos and cover art. He also directed the video for "You Got A Fire"
