In June of 2014, the Green Mountain Project returns with two programs: Claudio Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610 and a new program created for the project by Scott Metcalfe titled Vespers for the Feast of St. John, featuring works by Monteverdi, Gabrieli and others, at 7:30PM on Wednesday, June 18 and Thursday, June 19 at the
Church of St. Mary the Virgin (145 West 46th Street).
When the Green Mountain Project made a triumphant entry onto the New York early music scene in January 2010 with Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610, James Oestreich of The New York Times wrote that the performance was "quite simply terrific... The main choristers all had soloist-quality voices and ample opportunities to display them in music that is devilishly demanding in its ornamental intricacy." The concert was also named one of the Top Ten Classical Music Events of the Year by
New York Magazine, and was repeated in January 2011. In 2012, TENET's Green Mountain Project offered a program created by Scott Metcalfe entitled A Grand Festive Vespers in Venice ca. 1640, drawing music from Claudio Monteverdi's monumental collection Selva Morale e Spirituale, including works by Giovanni Gabrieli on the 400th anniversary of his death, and other 17thcentury Italian composers.
Under the musical direction of Scott Metcalfe and artistic direction of Jolle Greenleaf, the Green Mountain Project features nearly 30 musicians including Jolle Greenleaf and
Molly Quinn, sopranos; Luthien Brackett and Virginia Warnken, altos;
Zachary Wilder, Jason McStoots, Sumner Thompson, Aaron Sheehan, tenors; Jesse Blumberg, Mischa Bouvier, Steven Hrycelak, and Thomas McCarger, basses; Scott Metcalfe and Ingrid Matthews, violins; Daniel Elyar and Dongmyung Ahn, violas; Emily Walhout, bass violin; Anne Trout, violone; Kiri Tollaksen and Alex Opsahl, cornetti; Greg Ingles, Erik Schmalz, and Mack Ramsey, sackbuts; Hank Heijink and Daniel Swenberg, theorbos; and Jory Vinikour, organ.
