Mack Keane has a finesse to putting a modern twist on retro soul. It's helped the 20-year-old singer-songwriter/producer build a buzz for himself on New York University's campus and beyond, and it's best exemplified on the 2107 EP, out May 5. Mack has shared "Imagine", the Jamiroquai-esque lead single, exclusively with Popdust, who dubbed the song an early contender for, "one of the year's best tracks."

The track narrates an on/off relationship and the act of imagining what could've been for two estranged lovers. Mack picked up a piano at age 6, so it's not surprising that it's his first stop when crafting a song. From there it's passionate improvising, and the whole process comes together naturally, in part because it's embedded in his DNA. His grandfather, Bob Keane, founded the legendary Del-Fi Records (Ritchie Valens, Sam Cooke, Bobby Fuller Frank Zappa), his father, Tom Keane, is a veteran music composer/producer/musician (Barbra Streisand, Chaka Khan, Celine Dion, Chicago) and his mother, Paula Mulcahy, performed worldwide as a singer and actress. Raised on Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire, Marvin Gaye and Donny Hathaway, along with rock gods Fleetwood Mac and Steely Dan, Mack was grounded by a diverse palette of musical literacy. As he grew into his own, he gravitated towards Michael Jackson, D'Angelo and Justin Timberlake, ventured in musical theater and acapella and even fronted a rock band before arriving at his current iteration of neo-soul, R&B and pop.www.mackkeanemusic.com
