NXNE to Present Bad Religion, Raekwon & Ghostface Killah & Matthew Good, 6/11

In addition to the announcement of The Flaming Lips headlining at Yonge-Dundas Square on Saturday June 16 (presented by AOL Canada), North by Northeast (NXNE) has announced the next wave of programming for the 18th edition of the festival, taking over Toronto June 11-17, 2012. NXNE Music has confirmed that Bad Religion, Raekwon & Ghostface Killah and Matthew Good will headline free shows at Yonge-Dundas Square (YDS) throughout the seven-day festival. The NXNE Music line-up also includes performances at YDS and in the clubs by Of Montreal, No Use For A Name, Purity Ring, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Death Grips, The Men, Bleached, Good Riddance, METZ, Ceremony, Plants & Animals, The Death Set, The Sadies & Andre Williams, Oberhofer, Reigning Sound, Action Bronson, 2:54, Yamantaka/ /Sonic Titan, The Hundred in The Hands, Rival Schools, Killer Mike, Young Magic, Hayes Carll, Friends, Hollerado, Bran Van 3000, The Black Belles, Doldrums, Odonis Odonis, Mac DeMarco, Bass Drum of Death, Porcelain Raft, Exitmusic, Violens, Grass Widow, Eight and a Half, DZ Deathrays, Jonathan Toubin, Art vs. Science, B L A C K I E, The Nils and Ivan Julian (ex-Richard Hell & The Voidoids).

Celebrating three decades of punk rock, Bad Religion will hit NXNE on Thursday, June 14 at Yonge-Dundas Square, presented by Monster Energy Drink, along with California punk rockers No Use For A Name. On Friday, June 15, SiriusXM Canada presents Canadian rocker Matthew Good, who will bring his own brand of political music to YDS. NXNE’s closing night at YDS – presented by Intel on Sunday, June 17 – will feature a performance by influential rappers Raekwon & Ghostface Killah of Wu-Tang Clan. Intel will also be launching their Intel® Superstars Search - where they will be looking for Canadian rising stars. It's the intersection of Music, Technology and Creativity.

NXNE 2012 will mark the Toronto debut of underground experimental hip hop trio Death Grips, dirty rock ‘n roll sirens Bleached, hardcore punks Ceremony, Jack White-approved The Black Belles, British shoegazers 2:54 and three-piece dance band Art vs. Science.

NXNE Film will present the world premiere of WHAT DID YOU EXPECT? THE ARCHERS OF LOAF LIVE AT CAT’S CRADLE, a feature-length documentary combining in-your-face concert footage from The Archers of Loaf reunion tour with rare interviews of the band. As a special bonus The Archers of Loaf will perform at the Phoenix Concert Theatre on Friday, June 16 and a limited number of NXNE pass holders can join a rush line the day of the concert for free admission.

Previously announced is a Gala Presentation of ECSTASY, based on the IRVINE WELSH novel Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance, as part of NXNE Film on Thursday, June 14 at 7pm, at the Royal Cinema. IRVINE WELSH will be in attendance and participate in an audience Q&A following the NXNE screening of Ecstasy.

With over 80 presentations, NXNEi (NXNE Interactive) bridges the gap between creators of all kinds and interactivity by bringing you the freshest in social content and the tools and creativity behind it. Featuring Rosie Siman, Jerry Paffendorf, Dave Olsen, Christie Nicholson, Dr. Michael Geist and many more, this year’s NXNEi takes a deep dive into DIY and humanizing digital content.
