In celebration of its 20th anniversary, NORTH BY NORTHEAST (NXNE) expands to ten days - June 13-22, 2014 - for the biggest festival to date, with new collaborations with major international partners to create music hubs of legendary proportions throughout the city of Toronto.
NXNE will celebrate this epic anniversary with a stronger focus on the elements that have brought the festival its iconic national status and international renown over the past two decades. NXNE Film will kick off June 13-15, NXNE Interactive will run June 16-20, while NXNE Music will anchor the festival June 18-22.
Throughout the extended dates, NXNE will collaborate with cultural touchstone and provocateur VICE Media to re-create their hugely successful SXSW VICELAND project by transforming a section of the city's downtown core with blockbusting performances and attractions. NXNE will also team up with avant-underground music broadcast stream
Boiler Room to stage the best in underground music with their exclusive signature showcases.
"We are so excited to be working with these amazing media partners to amp up what NXNE has been doing for the past 20 years: presenting the latest and greatest in new music. I know what VICE and
Boiler Room will bring to the festival will be nothing short of spectacular", said Christopher Roberts, NXNE
Festival Director.
To mark the 20th anniversary, festival-goers can experience NXNE 2014 with the new all-encompassing Platinum pass, or with stream-specific wristbands for either Music, Interactive, Film, or Comedy. NXNE Art, returning for its second year, will be accessible with any wristband or pass. For more information and prices, visit www.nxne.com/tickets.
NXNE invites musicians, filmmakers, and comics to apply for a chance to be a part of one of the world's premier arts festivals. Submissions will be accepted - online only - at
www.nxne.com until January 31, 2014.
Now in its 20th year, North by Northeast (NXNE)
Festival and Conference is one of the world's premier festivals. NXNE's five pillars - Music, Film, Comedy, Art, and Interactive - are essential gatherings for artists, industry, and fans. NXNE draws 350,000 attendees and generates an annual economic impact of over $50 million on the city of Toronto.
