Earlier this year, the British-born, Paris-based artist ALA.NI released her debut album You & I with Missing Piece Records and just completed her first-ever tour of the United States with Son Little. NPR Music has just premiered the video for the Amazon Original, "Not Coming Home (Amazon Original)," released earlier this year on the Amazon Acoustics playlist.
Watch "Not Coming Home" via YouTube:
"ALA.NI's voice is as much a vibe as a conveyer of ideas, of words and thought," writes NPR Music's Bob Boilen. "For me, it's evocative of love and heart. This video and the song ALA.NI sings illustrates my point." ALA.NI provided an extensive statment on the video that you can read at NPR Music.
Recently, NPR Music released ALA.NI's Tiny Desk Concert, featuring guitarist Marvin Dolly, saying, "ALA.NI captures and conveys a reverent love of early 20th century music, while injecting those sounds with charisma and charm well suited for any era
You & I was released to great acclaim from The Fader, Interview Magazine, Essence, and Rolling Stone, who called the record "A startlingly intimate album...You and Iblends stripped-down bedroom-pop aesthetics with haunting songs that recall mid-20th-Century pop in their sweeping melodicism."
For an example of her transcendent live performances, watch ALA.NI perform "Cherry Blossom" on Later... with Jools Holland.
You & I is now available for purchase and streaming at all major retailers.
