Musical Star Pia Douwes Releases First Solo CD 'After All This Time' Image

Pia Douwes, who shot to international fame by creating the title role in the Viennese hit musical Elisabeth and has performed on stages from Moscow (Grizabella in Cats) to London (Velma Kelly in Chicago and Beggar Woman in Sweeney Todd) and New York (Velma Kelly in Chicago), today released her first solo CD entitled After All This Time. The album is released by HitSquad Records.

"In the last thirty years I have been able to play many beautiful roles in musicals with iconic and world renowned songs like "I Dreamed A Dream" from Les Misérables, "All That Jazz" from Chicago, "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina" from Evita, "I Miss The Mountains" from Next to Normal, to name just a few. When I flipped through my CD collection, I discovered that I appear on 65 different albums, ranging from cast CD's to albums from colleagues and friends. But there wasn't a CD with all those beautiful songs that people often associate with me, songs that have played a major role in my career and have enriched my life. The title of the CD is After all this time and I am very happy that the CD is finally there."

Thirteen of the biggest international musical-hits were recorded this summer at the MG-Sound Studios in Vienna with a large orchestra conducted by Koen Schoots. At the request of Pia Douwes, three of the most famous German musical songs, from Elisabeth, 3 Musketiere and Der Besuch der alten Dame (The Visit), have been specially translated for her into English by Charles Hart, the distinguished lyricist of musicals such as The Phantom of the Opera, Aspects of Love and Bend It Like Beckham. An additional bonus track, the hit song "Ich Gehör Nur Mir" from the musical Elisabeth, was especially recorded in seven different languages.

After all this time by Pia Douwes is released by HitSquad Records and is available internationally from today.
