Mumford and Sons Releases Official Music Video For BELOVED Image

Mumford & Sons' official music video for their new single, "Beloved," is premiering today-watch/share HERE. Directed by BAFTA-nominated filmmaker, Charlotte Regan, the video was shot in and around Port Talbot in Wales and reflects the song's lyrical touchpoints of death, the heartache of its acceptance and the long-standing memories we cling to in its wake.

Of the song, Marcus Mumford shares, "Everyone knows loss in one way or another. This song is about that. I'd never sat with anyone as they died before, and it had an effect on me. As it does everyone I know who has experienced it. But there's wildness and beauty in it as well, and a deep honouring, that became the beginnings of this song that we worked up called 'Beloved.' I feel determined for people to take whatever they want from it, and not to be emotionally prescriptive."

Of the video, Regan adds, "Port Talbot was an amazing place. To be honest it was somewhere I hadn't thought about until the band mentioned it. I used to visit my nan up north in Redcar where she lived for a little while and remembered looking down long streets and seeing kids playing football or curby with these big industrial buildings in the background, and initially, that was where I had in mind. But as soon as we started looking at pictures of Port Talbot, we knew it was perfect. It was a proper beautiful place with an amazing sense of community but still maintained that kind of grit we were looking for."

Earlier this month, Mumford & Sons debuted an acoustic version of the song on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert." The intimate performance featured the band surrounded by fans performing "in the round"-a first for the program. Watch HERE. They also performed an acoustic version of their #1 single, "Guiding Light," as a bonus web exclusive. WatchHERE.

Both "Beloved"-which was recently the #1 most added song at both Alternative and AAA radio-and "Guiding Light" are from the band's new album, Delta, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, Americana/Folk Albums, Alternative Rock Albums and Rock Albums charts with 230,000 equivalent album units earned (stream/purchase here). This is the band'sthird consecutive #1 debut, the largest sales week for an alternative rock album in 2018 and the sixth-largest debut among all titles last year (Gentlemen of the Road/Glassnote Records).

In celebration of the album, the band will extend their "thrilling" (The Washington Post) worldwide Delta Tour this summer visiting iconic venues across the west coast including the first ever headline concert held at L.A.'s Banc of California Stadium as well as stops at Portland's Moda Center, Vancouver's BC Place Stadium, George, WA's Gorge Amphitheatre, Missoula's Ogren Park at Allegiance Field, Salt Lake City's USANA Amphitheatre and two nights at Denver's Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre. Already receiving widespread praise for their sold-out live performances, the Albany Times Union declares, "Mumford & Sons has developed into an arena-rock juggernaut," while The Washington Post proclaims, "The U.K. quartet thrilled a packed Capital One Arena crowd...undeniably wondrous arena rock anthems" and Billboard asserts, "It's exactly the kind of tour that will solidify their spot in the pantheon of arena-friendly bands."

Marking ten years since Mumford & Sons made their meteoric debut, the new music follows 2015's Wilder Mind, which debuted at No. 1 in the U.S., U.K., Australia Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands and Norway and, most recently, 2016's collaborative Johannesburgmini album. Previous LPs include 2012's Babel, which was awarded the 2013 Grammy for Album of the Year, and their 2009 debut, Sigh No More.

Mumford & Sons are Ben Lovett, Marcus Mumford, Ted Dwane and Winston Marshall.
