Multi-Grammy Award Nominated Band Hiroshima to Perform at Japantown San Jose

After 30 years and 4 million records sold worldwide, they continue to make their unique mix of East meets West their signature sound.

This very special interactive event will provide a rare opportunity to spend some up-close and personal time with this famous group. Throughout this special afternoon of music, the members of Hiroshima will share memories and thoughts about the group's early days and the origins of their songs. Audience members will be able to participate in a Q & A session with the band members. A VIP lunch event is also available to get one-on-one time with the group. The band would like to reach out to all generations of fans and would like everyone, young and old to participate.

The San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin serves as a religious and cultural center and is in the heart of Japantown San Jose, one of the last 3 remaining authentic historic Japantowns in the USA. It is deeply connected with the history and development of the Japanese-American community in San Jose. The mission of the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin is to learn and to share the Jodo Shinshu understanding of the Three Treasures-Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.

About the Generations Capital Campaign
Over 50 years ago, our ancestors built the Annex building of the Betsuin. The facility provided for the growing Sangha to gather and be with one another and the rest of the community, to have dances, large services and funerals, and sporting events. Today, the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin continues to serve as a gathering place to share the Buddha-dharma. Our current buildings do not meet present seismic requirements, are not accessible to persons with disabilities, and are reaching the end of the useful life for many of its systems and finishes. Seismic experts have told us that the Annex can possibly suffer catastrophic failure in a major earthquake.

Generations Capital campaign is a $10 million capital campaign project with two distinct building phases over 5 years. The first phase addresses seismic concerns with the Annex Building and represents approximately one-third of our financial target. The second phase focuses on the Education building and is expected to be fully funded by 2019. It is up to us to build a thriving Betsuin for future generations to enjoy for years to come.
