Mount Eerie has shared "Tintin In Tibet," the opening song from the upcoming album Now Only. Written following tour dates supporting the acclaimed 2017 album A Crow Looked At Me, it shows songwriter Phil Elverum in states of alternating contemplation and devotion. Singing directly to Geneviève Castrée, his wife who died of cancer in 2016, Elverum recounts when they met and their first days together. In the songs he has written since Castrée's death he has sung about the tragedy and despair of losing a partner, but "Tintin In Tibet" gives us a glimpse of the person Castrée was, and how they fell in love.
Now Only is out March 16th on Elverum's own label P.W. Elverum & Sun. It follows A Crow Looked At Me, which was recently named one of the best albums of 2017 by The New York Times, the Atlantic, New York Magazine, NPR, Pitchfork, SPIN, Consequence of Sound, Tiny Mix Tapes, and more. The new album explores the complicated emotional experience of releasing such intimate music into the world, the concept of remembrance and what its like to preserve a loved one's creative legacy, and the continuing experience of real death entering Elverum's house and life.
