Mother Falcon is still coming down from their three great performances at this year's SXSW; they were cited and as one of Bob Boilen's "15 Essential Moments From SXSW 2013" and Stephen Thompson even named the band his "favorite young band of the festival's opening night," which you can read about HERE.
But while fans and critics alike have delighted in the band's 2011 debut LP
Alhambra (Consequence of Sound said "can remind listeners of
Funeral-era Arcade Fire,") the highlight of their Austin shows was performing material from their upcoming new album
You Knew due out May 7th.
Continuing to develop their orchestral indie sound,
You Knew uniquely combines upbeat, danceable indie rock and offbeat jazz elements a la Portishead that slowly build until they explode with sound, courtesy of the band's symphonic size.
You Knew's initial single "Dirty Summer" is "very much about the crisis at the intersection of youth and adulthood," the band said. It is also now available as a free MP3 download via
Soundcloud or by clicking

In addition to
You Knew's release, Mother Falcon will have a busy summer scoring music for a documentary film and developing a summer camp for young classical musicians. For more information regarding their Indiegogo project to fund
You Knew, visit
