According to Page Six, Dolly Parton is worried that Miley is too "bizarre." Dolly Parton was friends with Billy Ray Cyrus; and so, in 1992, when Miley was born, Cyrus made Parton her godmother. Parton expressed her concern to London's The Sun Newspaper, saying, "I don't think the crowd would be so forgiving again if she did anything else that was really offensive."

When Miley decided that she needed to distance herself from her Disney past, she turned to Parton.Parton recalls, "One day, she'd had enough and told me: 'I need to murder Hannah Montana in order for people to accept who I really am.' I think she felt she had to make that severe a change. And she obviously did."
