On October 26 Butterscotch Records and Moog Music will host performances from author and musician Mike Edison and performance artist Christen Clifford. Edison is the former publisher of High Times and former editor of Screw whose books include I Have Fun Everywhere I Go and Dirty! Dirty! Dirty. Edison's performances with his Delta Science Micro Arkestra (featuring keyboard ace Mickey Finn and ex-Sonic Youth drummer Bob Bert) explore pornography, drugs, professional wrestling, and the broken promises of the American space program in what he calls a "witches' brew of beatnik bop and dirty blues." Clifford is a writer and performance artist who Flavorpill has called "Hilarious and Uncensored." Clifford will debut a new performance text integrating Léon Theremin's lost years, women in rock, and the Gen X midlife crisis.
Odd Harmonics is a month-long contemporary art show and performance series curated by Butterscotch label head Allen Farmelo to celebrate the launch of the label. Odd Harmonics runs from October 16 to November 16.
Centered around renown designer Francois Chambard's series of custom built, sculptural Theremins, the show will feature original visual works from mixed media artist Cassandra C. Jones and painter Tomory Dodge. Other live performances throughout the month include the German classical Theremin Carolina Eyck, Butterscotch recording artist Graph Rabbit and Therminist Dorit Chrysler.
Farmelo's vision is to pull records up out of their sub-atomic, disembodied digital state and reunite full- length albums with physical art, design and performance as they were in the analog era. Internationally celebrated designer and builder Franc?ois Chambard's sculptural Theremins, says Farmelo, "embody the spirit of bold innovation, analog technology and beautiful handmade craftsmanship that we're insisting on as core components in Butterscotch's albums. We welcome the resurgence of the 12" LP as another expression of those multi-sensory ideals, and that means collaborating with today's best visual artists like Cassandra and Tomory."
October 26-Spoken-word artist Mike Edison and performance artist Christen Clifford will present transgressive performances that explore pornography and sexuality while incorporating Theremins.
November 1-Butterscotch recording artists Graph Rabbit with special guest.
November 2-Virtuoso Thereminist Carolina Eyck and pianist Christopher Tarnow performing new classical work for piano and Theremin. Butterscotch Artists Graph Rabbit will perform and Therminist Dorit Chrysler.
November 3, 11AM-Cutting edge electronica children's performer Elska (known as Bjork for kids) will perform a special morning show for families.
