ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) has announced that Michael Martin will head its Nashville Membership office in the role of Vice President, reporting directly to EVP of Membership John Titta. Martin has been with ASCAP for more than five years and previously jointly lead the Creative staff alongside LeAnn Phelan, who exited in April to help launch Sea Gayle Management. Martin joined ASCAP from Extreme Writers Group (EWG), which he co-founded in 2000 with Jason Houser and shared responsibilities for the day-to-day operations of the publishing and content development company.
ASCAP EVP of Membership John Titta stated, "ASCAP's Nashville community of writers and publishers is a rich vein of musical creativity, collaboration and success. While ASCAP transforms itself to offer innovative new services to our members, we are fortunate that Michael has been at the vanguard of this change in his previous ASCAP role. Moving forward, we need a strong leader in Nashville that understands the dynamics and needs of this valuable community. Michael's expertise in fostering close bonds with our Nashville membership and his vision for enhancing ASCAP's relationship with both emerging and established writers and publishers make him the perfect choice to lead our talented Creative team in Music City."
Martin commented, "The ASCAP Nashville team has worked extremely hard over the last five years to get to where we are today. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to lead such a dedicated creative staff and I look forward to all we can accomplish in the years to come."
