Today, Metric and Big Data release an Amazon Original Remix of "Risk," available to stream and purchase only on Amazon Music.
The original version "Risk" was released on Metric's critically acclaimed seventh LP Art of Doubt. NPR Music premiered the full album as a First Listen, noting "on the new Art of Doubt, Metric takes another welcome hard turn-this time back into spiky, guitar-driven rock and roll."
"Risk is one of our favorite songs on Art of Doubt and we're thrilled to have a remix of it by Big Data out in the world," explains Metric. "It's an amazing part of the creative process, hearing another artist's vision of your work, and since we're all serious fans of electronic music this is an exciting sonic collaboration."
Big Data is the paranoid pop brainchild of artist/producer Alan Wilkis. With a healthy dose of distrust, Big Data's music explores the relationship between man and machine, and the ways in which technology is reshaping the human experience.
"I've been a big Metric fan for years, so it was an absolute pleasure to remix 'Risk,' says Wilkis. "I love the way the writing of the song unfolds and expands, and I love the tone and soaring quality of Emily's voice. I wanted to preserve those elements in my remix, but take a more aggressive electronic-music approach in my production."
Starting Friday, Amazon Music listeners can find the track on the global playlist, "Signals," the pulse of electronic music culture. Customers can also simply ask, "Alexa play the Amazon Original by Metric" in the Amazon app for iOS and Android and on Alexa-enabled devices. In addition to Metric, Amazon Music listeners can access hundreds of Amazon Originals featuring both emerging and established artists across numerous genres, available to stream and purchase only on Amazon Music.
