Merely Shares New Video For SUNSET BEACH

Sweden's Merely today shares the new video for her track "Sunset Beach", taken from her recently released album Hatching The Egg. The bright and obscurely tilting video, directed by Hanna Nilsson and Rasmus Svensson, co-founders of PWR Studio, takes the viewer through a morning which takes a darkly surreal twist, contrasting the track's euphoric pinnacle. Merely says of the video: "A woman lives in a tiny house, and this home is her entire world. But she dreams of something more."

"Sunset Beach", along with previous singles "Crazy Heart" and "Mystery Garden", is lifted from Merely's intricately crafted electronic dream-pop album Hatching The Egg. The album is inspired by ancient stories, fairy tales and mythology, where different tropes are often used to symbolize the powers found within all of us. For example, The King and Queen represents internal struggle and justice, and The Warrior represents courage and willpower. On the other hand, The Wizard is more ambiguous and represents the esoteric sides of the human psyche - insight, spiritual growth, a kind of messenger between worlds. If Merely's first two albums Nirvana and Uncanny Valley were her manifestations of The Warrior and The Queen, Hatching The Egg is The Wizard - a new incarnation, imagining her as the lead singer in a super group composed of the best renderings of her past self, all disguised as fable animals and creatures from the other side; an album painted with a palette of psychedelic, dreamy pop, shoe-gaze, chamber music and subtle hints of progressive rock.

Merely is Kristina Florell, a classically trained instrumentalist and vocalist based in Sweden. Through experimentation with electronic production environments and digital techniques, she started releasing music under the Merely moniker in 2012. As a songwriter, composer and producerFlorell mixes layers and blurs the borders between the organic and digital, building vast, airy soundscapes and ethereal harmonies, always with her roots deeply buried within the rich soil of contemporary pop and dance music.
