Melissa Cox owes her music career to a missed curfew. At 14, she came home late, as teenagers often do, and was grounded by her parents. "My dad said 'You can't go out with friends, go on the computer, or watch TV. So you're going to do something useful and learn guitar,'" recalls Cox. "If that had not happened, I don't know what I would be doing with my life right now."
One week later, Cox wrote her first song. A year later, she recorded her first album. Now, a decade later, Cox is an award-winning songwriter, and lead singer of the Celtic Fusion band Mythica with 100,000 tour miles under her belt, including two tours of Hawaii and tour of New Zealand, and seven albums.

Blending Celtic with progressive rock, newgrass, rock and World, Mythica is led by Melissa Cox, who possesses a voice that has been described by Sing Out! Magazine as "a cross between
Loreena McKennitt and Jefferson Airplane's
Grace Slick." From heartfelt to witty to mystical, her lyrics take on a poetic tone reminiscent of
Paul Simon or
Sarah McLachlan, but never to the point of total obscurity, and always towards the goal of realizing some kernel of truth about herself or life. Melissa was dubbed Best Singer/Songwriter by her home state's Spark Magazine, Best Celtic Fusion Singer by Celtic MP3 Music Magazine, and Best Musical Folk Artist by the Delaware Division of Arts. She and her band have shared the stage with Smash Mouth, the Spin Doctors,
Sister Hazel, Three Dog Night, Enter the Haggis, the Screaming Orphans,
Black 47, and Tempest, and have toured extensively across the continental U.S., Hawaii and New Zealand, playing at hundreds of major festivals, concert series and premier venues. More information at
