GRAMMY® -winning and-nominated professionals, industry specialists affiliated with The Recording Academy® and 111 high school students from 93 cities and 34 states across the United States participate in GRAMMY Camp® in Los Angeles and New York this summer. In addition to a faculty of music professionals, on Aug. 2, during Open Mic Night at GRAMMY Camp, Matthew Morrison of "Glee" will be in attendance to welcome and play an acoustic set for GRAMMY Campers. Morrison is currently on a summer tour to promote his self titled debut album which includes duets with Sir Elton John, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Sting. He has received an Emmy nomination and two Golden Globe nominations for his role in the Fox hit, "Glee," returning for a third season this fall. He was also nominated for a Tony Award for his role in "The Light In The Piazza." On Aug. 7, GRAMMY Camp culminates with a Launch Party produced by the students and featuring original performances and video presentations created during GRAMMY Camp.
WHAT:
Seventh Annual GRAMMY Camp®- the GRAMMY Foundation's signature music industry camp for U.S. high school students - is an interactive residential summer music experience focusing on all aspects of commercial music. GRAMMY Camp provides instruction by industry professionals in an immersive creative environment with cutting-edge technology in professional facilities. Held for the past six years in Los Angeles, the program is expanding to the East Coast to reach a broader range of students. GRAMMY Camp L.A. took place in Los Angeles from July 9-18at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music. GRAMMY Camp N.Y. will be held in Brooklyn, N.Y. from Aug. 2-8 with 35 high school students from 33 cities and 21 states at Converse Rubber Tracks, a new state-of-the-art recording studio that provides artists of all genres the opportunity to record their original music in a high quality studio alongside a team of experienced engineers at no cost.
GRAMMY Camp N.Y. offers campers the opportunity to work in integrated industry teamsin three fields: Music Business & Production; Singer/Songwriter, and Performance - Instrumental or Vocal. This real-world, hands-on environment will involve an in-depth look at the entire creative process from the first spark of original material through the promotion of a finished product.
On Aug. 7, GRAMMY Camp N.Y will culminate in a Launch Party at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square. The following guest professionals will attend the launch party and participate in a networking session with the GRAMMY Campers: Dan Cherry, chief marketing officer, New York Cosmos; Phylicia Fant, vice president of publicity,
Warner Brothers Records; Jeff Franzel, songwriter/composer; Angela Hunte-Wisner, GRAMMY-winning songwriter; Jeanne Meyer, executive vice president of corporate communications, Current Media; and Rusty Rueff, Vice Chair, GRAMMY Foundation® Board.

Students were able to apply to either or both sessions of GRAMMY Camp, and tuition was discounted for participation in both sessions. Financial aid was available and approximately 70 percent of GRAMMY Camp participants who have applied for financial aid have received assistance.
