Deliciously dysfunctional Brighton-based musician Matt Finucane returns with the first of two EPs. 'Threaten Me With You. Love' is released on Light Crude, on 25 October 2017. "To say recording this stuff nearly killed me would be over the top, but it certainly left me a bit indisposed," says Matt.

"One stay in rehab later, I took the album pieced together for no money over a truly tortuous year... deleted three of the tracks that were such a wonderful ordeal to record... then split the eight remaining songs into two EPs. Albums are dead, and if you want to create something good you've got to be ruthless.

It's not just playing at being Music's Bad Conscience - I can just about recall when music meant something, and in these days of deadly sonic perfection and fake grit, really wanted to do something woozy, disorientating and not quite... right.

It's a druggy-sounding record - more by accident than design - but as honest as I could make it. All the better to suck people in."

Recorded with assistance from Mik Hanscomb of Junkboy, who also plays in Matt's newly-assembled live band, 'Threaten Me With You. Love' is a new height of intensity and focus.

Matt Finucane's career spans two decades in the dark underbelly of compulsion. His is a drive to cut through the static with intelligent, gripping, spooky music - it's a way of life, not a lifestyle.

"I started playing in bands because it's the highest you can legally get: the most immediate form of creation there is. But with my mileage it's easier to keep some illusion of dignity as a solo act..."

Matt takes his influences from Lou Reed, Mark E Smith and horrible electronic noise (despite primarily performing on acoustic guitar), and is happy to be "an explorer and purveyor of the wonderfully unconventional and confrontational", according to Ringmaster Reviews. His two self-released solo albums - 'This Mucky Age' (2011) & 'Glow in the Dark'(2012) - scored excited reviews, and his DIY ethic got a further boost from BBC Introducing: South (Matt's live radio debut was a session on 24th June 2012).

After two further single releases and putting together a live band, he's now touring an EP in October 2017, with a second EP ready for 2018.
