Matt Black Takes on Bonzai Progressive Classic 'The First Rebirth'

Next up on Bonzai Progressive sees a Matt Black's remix of the label's 1993 Hard Trance classic 'The First Rebirth' by Jones & Stephenson. Matt has managed to pull off a fantastic progressive house version by slowing down the BPM and replaces the thumping kicks with classic House kicks, which give a nice punch and bright shuffling hi hat combos that provide a lovely flow. A scathing synth line comes in which transforms into a groovy acid sequence which accompanies that deep rumbling bassline and synth stabs. That classic melody that chimes with everyone from the 90s Trance era fades in to take over and on the break, it really comes into full effect and sounds amazing. This really is a great take on a classic which is a must have this summer.

Matt Black has been around since the mid 90s however, it was in 2003 when he started Segment Records, which was when he really started to get noticed. Since quitting the label in 2014 he has gone on to release tracks on labels such as Stripped Digital, Mirabilis and Pro-B-Tech. He has also provided remixes on labels such as Crop Circle, Emotional Content and 3rd Avenue. His remix of Stas Drives' 'Feel Her Butterfly' won the remix competition on Keep Thinking and was featured as part of the remix pack. Throughout the years, Matt's music has been enjoyed and played by DJs from the likes of Nick Warren and Hernan Cattaneo with plays on major radio and internet stations including Proton Radio and Frisky. With more projects and releases to come in 2017 Matt continues to develop as an artist as his popularity grows.
