According to Billboard, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have done it again. The duo has a hit number one with their latest single "Can't Hold Us." This marks the second time they've accomplished this feat, the first time with their hit "Thrift Shop." The duo is the first group in the Hot 100's almost 55 year run to hit number 1 with its first two singles.
Niesel Soundscan has reported that "Can't Hold Us" has logged a 1% increase in digital sales, no doubt due to it's catchy tune with its rhythmic, hip-hop and R&B sounds.
"Can't Hold Us" officially dethrones the reigning champ, P!nk's "Just Give Me a Reason." "Reason" drops to number 2 on the list. Justin Timberlake's "Mirrors", Rihanna's "Stay" and Bruno Mars "When I Was Your Man" round out the top 5 on the list. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis "Thrift Shop" remains a powerhouse though, catching the number 6 spot. It remains ahead of Icona Pop's "I Love it" at number 7. Imagine Dragons "Radioactive" hits the list at number 8.
The newcomer to the list this week is Florida Georgia Line's "Cruise" featuring Nelly, cracking the top 10 for the first time in almost a month. It takes the number 9 spot. "Cruise" was played on country stations everywhere and has gained some new life since it has been remixed by Nelly. Florida Georgia Line's other new single "Get Your Shine On" has risen to the top of the country charts, hitting number 1 this week.
Pitbull's "Feel this Moment" featuring Christina Aguilera closes out the top 10 at the 10 slot.
Mariah Carey's "Beautiful" which was released this week has already made big in roads into the charts and while failing to make the Hot 100 this week, hit No. 44 on the Radio Songs chart. It will no doubt cause a stir when it hits the Hot 100 next week after a full week of sales, views and downloads.
