Mack Keane is a 20-year-old singer-songwriter/producer from NYU that has a knack for adding a modern twist on retro soul. He's built-up a buzz for himself on campus and beyond and exemplified everything he's worked toward on the 2107 EP, out May 5. After releasing "Modern Behavior" and "Imagine", Mack has given another taste of his new EP with the video for "Creation", which recently premiered at EARMILK.
The movie-esque video follows Mack as he fights his conflicting feelings about a girl. EARMILK commends, "Pulling out all the sexy stops, he is even giving leading ladies like
Rihanna a run for their money with this one and it's not just because of visuals." The newest addition into Mack's musical armory proves that honest lyrics and great production are helping him become new musical force to be reckoned with.
2107 is named after his freshman year dorm room number not only because all of the songs were written there, but also because the rich lyrical content delves into the personal growth he experienced during this time. The 7-song EP, which he wrote and produced himself with co-producers Tom Keane and
Nathan East (Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton), is a mix of R&B/soul with a dash of pop and is peppered with a live brass section, an eclectic mix of live drums and percussion, guitars and keyboards.
