Fueled By Ramen recording group and MTV Artist to Watch twenty one pilots (twentyonepilots.MTV.com) have announced details of a major headlining run deemed the "Trip For Concerts Spring 2013" tour, presented by MTV Artist to Watch. The epic trek which celebrates the band's recently released label debut, "VESSEL" expands upon their currently underway tour schedule and kicks off on March 17th at WorkPlay Theatre in Birmingham, AL. In addition, New Politics (NewPolitics.MTV.com) and FIVE KNIVES (FiveKnives.MTV.com) are on-board for the tour.
Furthermore, twenty one pilots that is, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun have slated a major hometown headline date at Columbus, Ohio's Lifestyle Communities Pavilion Outdoors, scheduled for April 26th. The show marks the duo's third time headlining the LC, having sold out the venue on two previous occasions. As if that weren't enough, twenty one pilots also plan to steal the show at an array of upcoming festivals, including Austin, Texas' annual South By Southwest (SXSW) Music and Media Conference, scheduled for March 12th - 17th, the 4th annual Hangout Music Festival (May 17th - 19th), Bonnaroo 2013 (set for June 13th-16th), Firefly Music Festival (June 21st) and Cincinnati's Bunbury Music Festival (July 13th). "Holding On To You," the first single from "VESSEL," is quickly shaping up as twenty one pilots' national breakthrough. The track is currently ascending the airplay rankings at Alternative radio outlets across the country, while its companion video clip is now in rotation at MTV, MTV Hits, and mtvU. What's more, "Holding On To You" is rapidly approaching 1 million individual views at Fueled By Ramen's official YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktBMxkLUIwY. Finally, a music video for "Guns For Hands," a longtime fan favorite, recently had its YouTube world premiere and has already earned almost 500,000 views at www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pmv8aQKO6k0.
twenty one pilots is already among the year's most celebrated new bands, having been named one of MTV's Artist to Watch, a new pro-artist and music discovery initiative and campaign across all of MTV's television channels, websites and social networks.
"VESSEL" sees twenty one pilots expanding upon the distinctive fusion of piano-driven indie-rocktronica, ably supported in the studio with superstar producer Greg Wells (Weezer, Aerosmith, Adele, Katy Perry) behind the board. Songs like "Holding On To You" prompted Billboard to hail the duo's "wind-up-toy of a single" as irresistible "saccharine punk rap."
The new album follows last year's Fueled By Ramen debut EP, "three songs," which featured an exclusive new track alongside revisited versions of songs from 2011's self-released, "REGIONAL AT BEST."
Known for their irrepressible on-stage energy, twenty one pilots has also built an avid international national following with their joyous live performances. In addition to innumerable headline shows and tours (including upcoming dates in such far-flung locales as Japan and the Republic of Korea), the band has shared stages with such like-minded artists as Grouplove, Neon Trees, and Jack's Mannequin.
