New York-bred singer and songwriter Matthew Koma released a brand-new single, entitled "One Night," yesterday, April 2nd, with an accompanying video to premiere on VEVO today, April 3rd.
Powerhouse single "One Night" was the catalyst for Koma's reimagining of his debut album, Arcadia which will be released later this year by Cherrytree/Darkchild/Interscope Records. Koma wrote "One Night" during his autumn 2012 tour, quickly added it to his setlist, and soon found the song - with its sing-along harmonies, in-your-face beats, and breezy yet biting lyrics about a one night stand gone wrong - to be a fan favorite. The humorous video for "One Night" was directed by Cameron Duddy, who has lensed multiple clips for Bruno Mars (including "Locked Out of Heaven"), AWOLNATION, and others. An inventive songwriter with a keen sense of melody, Koma has created a genre-bending sound by merging organic production with the left-of-center melodic finesse he's carefully honed through his work with such EDM artists as Swedish House Mafia's Sebastian Ingrosso, Alesso, and EDM phenom Zedd whose #1 dance record of the year "Spectrum" Koma featured on and co-wrote, along with chart-topping single "Clarity". His debut album honors his appreciation for the master singer-songwriters who have preceded him, especially his heroes Elvis Costello and Bruce Springsteen, and reveals a super-slick indie-pop sensibility that's undeniably of the moment. It also displays his skill at writing lyrics that offer both raw emotionalism and a refined sense of imagery. All tour dates are listed here.
