Lucy Kalantari & The Jazz Cats Present All The Sounds Plus Album Release Shows Image

This August Lucy Kalantari & the Jazz Cats deliver All The Sounds, an emotive and jazzy collection of all-ages songs. 10 original tunes feature robust lyrics, strong orchestration and music that calls attention to the amazing sounds that surround us and how they connect us and influence our lives.

Lucy Kalantari & the Jazz Cats will celebrate the release of All The Sounds with two special full band performances at Chicago's famous Lollapalooza'a Kidzapalooza stage on August 2nd and 3rd. Get ready to jazz and scat along in the summer sun with these delightful family performances.

What are All The Sounds? According to Kalantari, they are the experiences that unite us. All the Sounds observes how as we audibly take in our surroundings, we learn more about each other and connect with the rest of the world. From the light and playful noises of summer, to the eclectic musical sounds of opera and tango, to the different languages spoken throughout our own neighborhoods, we are brought together. Kalantari said "I wanted to remind us of the connection we have to each other and the work it takes to maintain the that. That we are in constant flux, learning how to be more human, more compassionate, more grounded and strong."

Community, togetherness and the simple joys of life are a recurring theme in her family music and those elements carry a strong presence here. On her 4th full album, Kalantari's influence from the jazz age shows throughout the album with the abundance of swing sounds reminiscent of the 1930s Harlem era. Kicking it all off is the vibrant debut single "Sounds of Summer" which is currently climbing the charts at Sirius/XM's Kids Place Live and other family radio programs around the country. With a full swing sound, it welcomes all of the sounds that comes with summer: ice cream truck jingles, outdoor concerts, barbecues, pool parties, laughter and of course, complaints of heat. Next, "La Cosecha" is a sweet follow-up song to her song "Our Garden" from the album Big Things. This bilingual song invites friends, neighbors and families to work together to harvest the fruit from the garden and eat together and features a crowd of little friends. "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" featuring Grammy winner Secret Agent 23 Skidoo is a 1920's jazz style song over a hip hop beat, about facing all kinds of heavy emotions from sadness and anger to hatred. The darkness helps us learn and shapes us because it's what we do with those feelings that matters. The Piazzolla-styled tango "Howl to the Moon" is a song for Halloween (Kalantari's favorite holiday!) about a werewolf who longs for the full moon to dance the tango with his friends and "Ain't No Dog Like Mister" is an educational song about Billie Holiday who was a big dog lover and her favorite boxer named Mister. This song serves as a reminder to appreciate the peculiar characteristics about people that make them unique.

Close to her heart is "I Know a Little Fellow" a sweet upbeat song featuring Kalantari's 5 ½ year-old son, Darius, playing his cello. A musical education song that is tangled in the story of a little boy who plays the cello like a big boy. The song touches on basic musical terms: high notes, low notes, glissando, tremolo, pianissimo, fortissimo, etc., and is also meant to serve as a reminder to kids (and adults!) that in order to do big things, we have to put in the time and energy to work and practice. "Bunny Hop" is a big number featuring opera singer Adelmo Guidarelli and is a follow-up song to "My Neighbor" also from the album Big Things (also featuring Adelmo). Here we discover that this opera singing neighbor loves bunnies. All in a swing beat, it's goofy fun, while telling the story of connecting and getting to know a neighbor. "The Peace Song" is a calm and catchy call and response for peace for all sentient beings "peace unto the world and every heart and soul within", and "Travelin' All Around" is about traveling and learning about different places and cultures via sight, sound and taste. It features a fantastic clarinet & bass solo in the form of a conversation and ends with kids saying "hello friend" in 19 different languages. The closing title track, "All the Sounds" is a lullabyesque summary of the whole album with a strong message for kids and adults about being present, connected, grounded and listening to the sounds in our hearts. Our paths and questions can become clear when we ground ourselves in our silence and listen.

Lucy Kalantari and the Jazz Cats All The Sounds features Lucy Kalantari on lead vocals, ukulele, and piano, Larry Cook on bass, Linus Wyrsch on clarinet, Rich Kulsar on drums/ percussion, Michael Irwin on trumpet, Erich Schoen-René on cello and Kalantari's 5 year old son Darius Kalantari on cellon. Special guests include Secret Agent 23 Skidoo and Adelmo Guidarelli.

All The Sounds will be available August 3 on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music and anywhere parents are searching for great music. Catch Lucy Kalantari & The Jazz Cats on tour this summer and fall, dates and more info are at LucyKalantari.com
