The acclaimed Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams will headline the 8th annual Holiday Cheer for FUV concert on Wednesday, December 5th at 8PM at the Beacon Theatre. Other performers will be announced shortly. Tickets for the concert to benefit New York's Rock & Roots public radio station WFUV (90.7 FM/wfuv.org) are priced from $45 - $125 (including $5 facility fee) and go on sale through Ticketmaster on Friday, November 9that 11AM.
Lucinda Williams' verbally and musically rich songs have been a major influence on American music for more than 25 years. A native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and the daughter of poet and literature professor Miller Williams, she won her first Grammy in 1993 for Best Country Song for "Passionate Kisses," recorded by Mary Chapin Carpenter. She won the 1999 Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album for her breakthrough releaseCar Wheels on a Gravel Roadand the 2002 Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance for "Get Right With God" from her Essence album. Altogether she has been nominated 14 times, including one this year for Best Americana Album for her most recent CD, Blessed.Videos
