The winter holiday season is full of tradition - gathering family members together to spend precious time together, regifting presents from years before while decorating the Christmas tree with ornaments old and new, and, of course, celebrating the best of the worst sweaters knitted by grandmothers who had the best of fashionable intentions for their grandchildren. Salsation's Los Improviachis bring a new tradition to the table by inviting you into their famila as part of their new show Feliz Navidachi running at Stage773, 1125 W. Belmont, Chicago, IL on Thursday December 11th & 18th at 8 PM.

Feliz Navidachi explores the holiday family ties, tribulations, and celebrations of Los Improviachis, a rag tag band of improvising mariachis, through a long-form improvised mariachi musical with fun audience participation. Los Improviachis enriches the "mariachis at the restaurant" experience by bringing it to the stage and incorporating the audience interaction into the storytelling being performed. The music, lyrics, choreography, and scene work is improvised.

Los Improviachis is the musical improvisation arm of Salsation Theatre Company, Chicago longest running Latino comedy company of 16 years specializing in improvisation and sketch comedy. "We're incredibly excited to be able to perform this show," exclaims Nelson Velazquez, Salsation's Artistic Director and lead musical director for Los Improviachis. "We've been performing for two years and have seen the great reaction we've received from audiences. Latinos and non-Latinos alike enjoy what we had to offer. Not many people have been exposed to improvisational theatre before let alone musical improv. Exposing mariachi music and culture to the masses in a comedic way is our goal," he adds.
