Lloyd Miller to Launch Sing-a-long Series at Brooklyn Historical Museum, 4/4

Lloyd H. Miller, known for his award-winning smart songs, legendary Brooklyn family sing-alongs, and for his work as leader of the history rock band The Deedle Deedle Dees, will launch a "Sing-a-Long History" album series on April 14th with a collection of original and traditional songs about the Civil War Era: Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Lloyd and special guests will debut songs at the Brooklyn Historical Society on April 4.

Miller has long been exploring American history themes. With "America's Ultimate Teaching Band," The Deedle Deedle Dees, Miller spearheaded albums Freedom in a Box, American History + Rock and Roll, and Strange Dees, Indeed which all spotlighted historical figures.

"Baldy" and "Henry Box Brown" are new recordings of songs from these previous Dees albums.Miller's solo album, S.S. Brooklyn, won acclaim for its offbeat sing-along style. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! reflects Miller's passion for the heroes and stories of the Civil War era: abolitionism, the Underground Railroad, and how the conflict nearly tore the nation apart.

"I love songs from the Civil War era. I tried to give them the live, exciting feel of the old-timey jazz and rock-n-roll I play at shows today," explains Miller. "With the original songs, I want to make the Underground Railroad and Civil War experience as exciting - or more exciting - than whatever kids are watching on RV or acting out in video games."
