WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story is streaming exclusively on The Roku Channel.
Today sees the release of the incredible Roku Original biopic film WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story, produced by Funny Or Die and Tango, and streaming exclusively on The Roku Channel.
In tandem with the movie's debut, Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, is thrilled to release the film's original motion picture soundtrack, featuring new versions of classic Weird Al parodies recorded exclusively for the movie (see full track listing below), as well as "Now You Know," a hilariously meta new Weird Al original tune which plays over the duration of the film's closing credits.
WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story Original Soundtrack is available now for physical pre-order here.
In addition to these tracks, the OST also features the original score composed by Leo Birenberg & Zach Robinson, who previously helmed the score for Cobra Kai. The score was recorded by the Budapest Scoring Orchestra.
The Roku Original film, which has garnered rave reviews, stars Daniel Radcliffe in the titular role of "Weird Al" Yankovic. The biopic holds nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic's life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like "Eat It" and "Like a Surgeon" to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle. WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story takes audiences on a truly unbelievable journey through Yankovic's life and career, from gifted child prodigy to the greatest musical legend of all time.
WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story was directed by Eric Appel, and written by Al Yankovic & Eric Appel. Yankovic and Appel also served as producers alongside Mike Farah, Joe Farrell and Whitney Hodack for Funny Or Die, and Tim Headington, Lia Buman and Max Silva for Tango. Funny Or Die's Henry Muñoz III and Tango's Neil Shah are executive producers.
"Weird Al" Yankovic is the biggest-selling comedy recording artist of all time. A five-time Grammy winner, his 2014 release Mandatory Fun was the first comedy album in history to debut at #1 on Billboard's Top 200. He is one of only three artists to have had their own top 40 hits in each of the last four decades (the other two being Michael Jackson and Madonna). On August 27, 2018, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce awarded Weird Al with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Roku Channel is the exclusive home of Roku Originals. From award-winning scripted entertainment and engaging documentaries to new breakout unscripted series, Roku Originals gives viewers free access to bold, fresh entertainment from the biggest names in Hollywood.
