After achieving major success as frontmen for two of England's most renowned rock bands, Liam Gallagher and Richard Ashcrofthave broken from their respective groups to pursue solo careers, welcoming new collaborators, and removing themselves from the limitations of assigned genres. Gallagher, the former lead singer of Britpop/rock acts, Oasis and Beady Eye, released his first independent album, As You Were, in October 2017. Applying expertly-crafted melodies to instrumentation reminiscent of 1960s rock music, the album highlights Gallagher's many years of songwriting experience. Debuting at number one in the UK, As You Wereeventually became certified platinum, earning Gallagher the highest single-week vinyl sales in 20 years. Like Gallagher, Ashcroft has been able to use his background as lead singer for British alt-rock band, The Verve to accomplish industry success on his own. With the release of These People in 2016, Ashcroft is now responsible for four solo albums, each one peaking within the 20 top chart positions in the UK. Working with celebrated hip-hop producer, No I.D., and following his love of soul, funk, and gospel music, Ashcroft's sound continues to evolve.
