Marty Balin, the voice, and hit song maker of Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, and his own solo works, is releasing a new album of original material, The Greatest Love. The album will showcase Balin's continued magic, recognizable voice, and heartfelt lyrics that have been long celebrated by fans.

The Greatest Love - produced by Marty Balin and Joe Vertino - was recorded at Marty's Purple Paradise studio, and features Lloyd Goldstein on upright bass and Chuch Morrongiello on lead guitar. "It's my message of love to my fans," says Balin, affectionately known by many as "The King of Love Songs." The album will be released to coincide with Valentine's Day and officially becomes available February 12, 2016.

Due to their international mainstream success as pioneers of counterculture-era psychedelic rock, The Recording Academy has announced Jefferson Airplane - Marty Balin, Jack Casady, Spencer Dryden, Paul Kantner, Jorma Kaukonen, Grace Slick - to be given the Lifetime Achievement Award during a special ceremony and concert. Additional details regarding the ceremony will be announced in the coming weeks but it slated for spring 2016.

"It is a big honor to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award and I am not done yet! I am looking forward to sharing my new album THE GREATEST LOVE," Marty Balin.

Celebrating music through the GRAMMY Awards for more than 50 years, The Recording Academy presents the Lifetime Achievement Award to honor performers who have made contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording.

In more somber news, all of us in the rock 'n' roll industry were saddened at the news of Paul Kanter and Signe Anderson's death, especially Marty. He expressed his feelings in the statement below.

"So many memories rushing through my mind now. So many moments that Paul and I opened new worlds. He was the first guy I picked for the band and he was the first guy who taught me how to roll a joint. And although I know he liked to play the devil's advocate, I am sure he has earned his wings now." Sai Ram "Go with God."

"Signe, what can I say...one sweet lady has passed on. I imagine that she and Paul woke up in heaven and said 'Hey what are you doing here? Let's start a band.' Heartfelt thoughts to all their family and loved ones."

From his classic hits with Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship, to new songs from recent albums and current studio sessions, a variety of Marty's musical styles are represented in each live performance. Currently on the road playing songs from Greatest Love, and already selling out shows in New York, San Francisco, and Seattle, his upcoming tour dates are listed below.
