Building a reputation on intimate performances and vast touring, Leah Harris has settled in the landscapes of New York City. Now, with a home base and inspiration flooding from her new surroundings, Harris ventures into something new musically with her single "Treat Me Good".
The first single off her EP of the same name, Harris shows off how she has honed her craft as not only a songwriter but a storyteller. Drawing from the personal experience of waiting for that no-name guy to call, Harris creates a fresh track that connects to the truths of dating.
The influences for pop and jazz meld together in a pleasant arrangement that is intensified by Harris' piano playing. The sweet addition of horns in "Treat Me Good" blanket the single in ease and flow.
A fun fusion of soulful vocals and jazz instrumental, the single is a great introduction to her new EP, "Treat Me Good", slated for release on May 15th. Comprised of 5 original soul/jazz songs by Harris, the EP explores love and the raw emotions we experience through it.
"Treat Me Good" was one of the last records recorded at Brooklyn's renowned Systems Two Studio, home to jazz music and generating records like Grammy-winning Jazz Album "The Mosaic Project" by Terri Lyne Carrington, Jazz instrumental album "Jungle-Provocative in Blue", and Tango Record of the Year "Solo Buenos Aires-Fernando Otero."
currently, Harris lives in New York City, where she can be found performing at venues such as Club Groove and Rockwood Music Hall. Check out the first single of the new EP, title track, "Treat Me Good", out now. Stay tuned for her new EP, "Treat Me Good", out May 15th and for her upcoming EP Release Show at the legendary Ashford & Simpson's Sugar Bar on the same date.
