Virginia-based dark rock act, Lauren Hoffman & The Secret Storm, are on the heels of their debut album Family Ghost -- an 11-track collection that fuses a unique, multi-dimensional brand of atmospheric textures. Today, the band reveals a new video for album track "Broken." An emotionally raw and heart-bending narrative, the video illustrates a story about flawed relationships and the imperfect people who enter into them. Frontwoman Lauren Hoffman comments:
"I definitely am a sucker for damaged people. So many artists and deep, interesting people are people who have managed to transform their brokenness into positive growth. But the guy who I wrote the song about couldn't do that. Instead of his damage being a catalyst for transformation, vulnerability, or deeper connection, he was just broken"
Joining Lauren Hoffman in her latest incarnation are Tony Lechmanski (guitar), Cathy Monnes (cello, violin), Jeff Diehm (bass), Ethan Lipscomb (keyboard), and Kevin Ardrey (drums). On previous solo albums, Lauren would bring a demo version of a song to a recording session, where she and longtime producer John Morand would start building on the framework. For this album, that relationship expanded to include the rest of the band members, resulting in a layered, multi-dimensional finished product. Thanks to this diverse band, one of the most remarkable qualities the album is its sonic push-pull, with no two tracks sounding the same.
