Lankum Announce First Ever US Live Shows Image

Lankum is one of the most talked about bands to come out of Ireland in decades. Rough Trade released their second critically acclaimed album Between The Earth And Sky last fall. Since then, Lankum have won and been nominated for multiple awards (Best Group & Best Song wins at the BBC Folk Awards, Album Of The Year nomination at Folk Alliance, and just last night they won Best Folk Group and Radie Peat won Best Folk Singer at the inaugural RTE Radio 1 Folk Awards.

Every single time the band plays, they blow minds and we are SO excited to announce that they will perform a handful of very special and their very first East Coast shows early next year.

Just a couple of weeks ago, The Guardian newspaper reviewed one of their shows and aside from giving it 5 stars, they said amazing things about it.... "A younger, darker Pogues with more astonishing power, Lankum deserve to get even bigger."

Lankum are busy breathing new life into old music. The Dublin band combine distinctive four-part vocal harmonies with arrangements of uilleann pipes, concertina, accordion, fiddle and guitar. Their repertoire spans humorous Dublin music-hall ditties and street-songs, classic ballads from the Traveller tradition, traditional Irish and American dance tunes, and their own original material.

The band is comprised of the brothers Ian and Daragh Lynch, along with Cormac MacDiarmada and Radie Peat. When not on tour, Ian lectures in Irish Folklore and musical traditions at University College Dublin, while Cormac and Radie grew up as champion traditional players, on the fiddle and concertina, respectively. Yet Lankum are not purely "trad" themselves...rough-hewn and raw, they're the edgiest thing in Dublin right now.

Earlier this year, they had the unbelievable honour of being invited to play at Shane MacGowan's 60th birthday celebration at the National Concert Hall in Dublin.

This is the version of The Old Main Drag that they put together for the show.
