Grammy Award winning cabaret chanteuse- Lady Rizo releases her second single "Sometimes the Sky's Too Bright" from her second studio album, Indigo, out August 18th, 2017, following her Red, White and Indigo residency shows at Joe's Pub (NYC) in March and the Soho Theatre (London) in July. The baroque tones that beckon listeners in on "Sometimes The Sky's Too Bright" push open a window into the world of Lady Rizo.

One of the more mysterious melodies off her new album Indigo; this song was created directly from the dark poetic pieces by 20th C. Welsh poet Dylan Thomas. Lady Rizo was invited to be part of creating a show about recently found letters of Thomas (the rock n'roll poet who is said to have inspired the Beat Generation and Bob Dylan and the Beatles to name a few) for London's celebrated institution The Soho Theatre. Her interpretation of his poem "Sometimes The Sky's Too Bright" synthesizes the visceral quality of his work- much a play on experience with pain and pleasure.

Taking these intimate experiences and exposing them through someone else's prose is a daunting task. Yet, the challenge comes with a heightened sense of pride: for Lady Rizo gets to give life to what could be a hidden piece of poetry, infusing a modern beat to a piece written in 1930.

"I love taking these beautiful, luxurious images or sounds and pressing them up to the very raw pain of existence. Making people feel alive-grand and giant one moment, yet intimate and vulnerable the next," says Rizo. "That's why I introduce myself as chanteuse, which (Edith) Piaf described as someone who takes one song and makes a whole opera out of it. Many of my songs carry a kernel of mystery, and I hope my music makes listeners vibrate with that excitement."

She transforms his poem "Sometimes the Sky's Too Bright" into a haunting, beat-driven tune. "I think it's about the unbearable beauty of the world," Lady Rizo explains. "Like when you're in a very dark place, but it's a gorgeous day outside. And you wish clouds would roll in to match your mood."
