The New York Theatre Organ Society presents organist Mark Herman in concert, performing on the Brooklyn Paramount's original 1928 Wurlitzer theatre organ. This will be the last concert held in this space before the Brooklyn Paramount undergoes a two year restoration.

Originally built in 1928, the Wurlitzer at the Brooklyn Paramount (currently the Schwartz Athletic Center at Long Island University) is one of only two of this model still in operation (the other lives at Radio City Music Hall), and the only one that is 100 percent original. The Wurlitzer's mighty sound and large network of nearly 90-year-old pipes, wires, cables, bells, drums, symbols, and other mechanisms required to replicate the sound of a full symphony orchestra through a single, very intricate instrument, are maintained by the New York Theatre Organ Society (NYTOS).See photos of the organ here: https://www.nytos.org/brooklyn-paramountWatch a video about the organ here: https://youtu.be/_PygQbt2ios
