Art-rocker and genre-defying heroine Kristeen Young will be paying tribute to the late David Bowie with her rendition of "Moonage Daydream" along with 24 other artists on Friday, February 9 for The Howard Stern Tribute to David Bowie special. Co-produced herself, Young wanted to pay tribute to her collaborator by making the cover as special as possible in his memory by adding a personal message in the song for him.
"In my version of Moonage Daydream, at the end, I am speaking the chorus of my song, Saviour, in Latin (the language of the supernatural) as a message to him saying, 'We could rise up from this grave. We could prepare to ascend. We could walk on water. I will be your saviour. You will be my saviour. Be my reciprocal saviour.' Maybe I knew... or maybe it's not magical. Maybe we all know...the end....because we do. But, I'd like it to be magical. I'd like everything to be magical."In addition, Kristeen is releasing new visuals for "I Love You Soooo Much," an atypically romantic ballad featured on last year's Live at the Witch's Tit. Featuring Vernon Reid (Living Colour) on guitar, the Brian McClelland-shot video turns St. Louis' Skatium into a hazy, bloody roller disco dream.
Finally, Kristeen Young will also take on London with legendary punk Brits The Damned later this month in support of their upcoming album, Evil Spirits, to which she contributed vocals on multiple tracks. In addition, Kristeen Young and her band will also headline their own show at The Lexington -- see below for details.Videos
