Kiri T is a multi-instrumentalist from Hong Kong who made her way to Berklee and weaves together lush synth sounds and sultry vocals with R&B and electronic vibes over moody beats. Her new single is "I'm Not Here" and today releases remixes from Paris producer Kultur and Hong Kong's Hirsk, who each provide an impeccable balance of energy and chill to show varying perspectives on the track.
"I'm Not Here" follows Kiri's collaboration with NY based producer LUCIAN on "Twenty-Something (Lucian Remix)", which climbed to #2 on Hype
Machine and collected over four million streams across various platforms.
With "I'm Not Here", Kiri emphasizes that everyone should feel free to walk away from a suffocating circumstance or abusive relationship; that sweeping things under the rug doesn't reverse a bad situation.
"Cover your ears and close your eyes doesn't mend the holes you punched through the walls."
"Being able to take control your own destiny and say 'I'm Not Here' when faced with a rigged playfield, is a message of empowerment," she says.
For the video, Kiri teamed up with director Cheung Kit Bong and dancer/choreographer Jessica Cheung to display a mysterious atmosphere that plays with light and smoke in conjunction with contemporary and ethnic influenced dance improvs.
